Pygmalion 26 brings George Bernard Shaw's classic comedy into Belfast 2026, in a new Irish-language translation that puts a distinctly contemporary spin on one of theatre's most famous stories about class, language and identity. Just as Eliza Doolittle's accent determines how the world sees her in Pygmalion (and its much-loved musical adaptation My Fair Lady), Pygmalion 26 asks: who gets to claim Irish as their own?

Set against the vibrant Irish-language culture of West Belfast, the show explores accent, class, belonging and identity. From Kneecap to a new generation of Irish-language artists, Belfast's urban Gaeltacht is producing work that is boundary-pushing and culturally distinctive. Pygmalion 26 brings that energy to the stage in this new Irish-language translation.
