John Duffy exhibition launch

Friday 16 October, 7pm
Tickets free

To commemorate extraordinary Ballymun artist John Duffy, we are hosting a very special event to celebrate the launch of an exhibition of John’s work.

The launch will include a special screening of stories from John’s mother Joan, brother Luke, son Daniel, friend Sparky (Ray Corcoran), the late Ballymun artist Paddy Kavanagh, two previously unreleased poems from John, and Pulitzer Prize winner for Poetry 2025 Marie Howe, who said on hearing one of John’s poems, “that man was a true poet”.

John’s long time collaborator STANO has created a limited edition double CD of the new recordings and a reissue of the original Wet With Starlight Rain which will include a booklet of John’s poetry, poems prepared for print by Dermot Bolger. The CD will be available on the night, and proceeds from sales of the CD will go to support the John Duffy Young Artist Bursary.

The screenings will feature stories from the In Between Silence project created by composer / producer Stano, a collection of over 130 stories of personal significance to the storytellers, of people or events that have impacted on their lives.  Ranging across time and space, from Irish and international writers and artists, including Dermot Bolger, Anne Enright, Roddy Doyle, Aidan Gillen, Paula Meehan, and John Duffy himself. The stories convey a vast range of human emotions.

The launch will start with a reception at 7pm, and will features screenings of these stories at 7.30pm. The event is free, but tickets are limited and must be reserved in advance.
