Denise Stallard: I AM
This exhibition is a project that began in early 2025 by social care worker and art teacher Denise Stallard. The exhibition was created by Denise Stallard in collaboration with 48 participants with additional support needs. The main steering group is Now Group in Smithfield, Now Group are a social enterprise empowering people who are neurodiverse, autistic or with learning difficulties secure employment with a future. The project also includes participants from St. Michael's House and Avista, Navan Road, services for people with intellectual disability.
The exhibition is comprised of art work from 48 participants, The aim of the exhibition is an empowering journey as the participants show themselves through various forms of artistic expression. Participants show themselves as people and endeavour to remove labels. The art work shows the stories, the struggles and the experiences of the participants and also highlights the insights gained through Denise's 25 year career working with people with additional support needs.
The exhibition can be seen at the cafe gallery at Axis from 1st until 30th May. Parts of the exhibition can also be seen at other venues across the country including The Snailbox Restaurant, Ashbourne, The Cobblestone Pub in Smithfield, The Museum of Curiosity, Pembroke Street, Blanchardstown library, Bayside Community Centre and Beaumont Scout Den.
