Axis Assemble: A Creative Bursary Programme for Artists
Since 2004, Axis has been a place where new ideas and new work are brought to life, from the Northside of Dublin to the wider world. We’re passionate about helping artists grow—whether you're just starting out or are already experienced. Through our many programs, we’ve supported hundreds of creative voices, and now we’re offering an exciting opportunity for you to take your practice to the next level.
The Axis Assemble programme is a 5-month bursary opportunity designed for artists at all stages of their careers, from all backgrounds. It’s about supporting your creative process, connecting you with other artists, and giving you the time and space to develop your ideas.
What you get:
€2,000 bursary funding
Up to €2,000 worth of in-kind support, including:
Dramaturgical and creative mentorship: Work closely with our Keep it LIT department in three one-on-one sessions.
Sustainability support: Engage with our Green Arts Department to explore how your practice can become more sustainable and adaptive.
Development space: Access to Axis studio spaces and/or theatre (subject to availability).
Showcase opportunity: Present your work during our Sharing Days in December (this could be digital or in-person, depending on availability).
Rehearsal space: Use of our spaces (subject to availability).
Hot desk space: If you need a desk to work from, we’ve got you covered (subject to availability).
Production advice and tech support: Get help from our production, sales, and tech team, plus technical support for showcasing your work.
Networking opportunities: Invitations to Axis shows, artist gatherings, and other events where you can connect with fellow creatives. working opportunities where appropriate.
Axis Assemble is for artists who:
Have at least some professional experience or training
Are based in the Greater Dublin area
Are dedicated to their creative process and want to grow as an artist
Are open to connecting with other creatives and learning from the community
While the programme focuses on performing arts, we’re also open to artists from other creative disciplines who want to explore cross-disciplinary approaches.
What we’re looking for:
We want artists who are passionate about their work, ready to dedicate time to their craft, and excited to connect with other artists. Whether you’re working on something big or small, or you’re still figuring out your next step, this programme is about giving you the space, mentorship, and support to develop your practice and bring new ideas to life.

How to Apply:
You can apply either in a written document, or with a video or audio file.
Video or audio files should be no more than 4 minutes
All formats must answer the questions in the application form: Axis Assemble Application Form (Word) / Axis Assemble Application Form (PDF)
Applications in written, audio or video format that do not answer all the questions in the Application Form cannot be included in the selection process

The fine print:
Applicants must be over 18 in June 2025
At least one bursary will be given to an artist who is from/based in the Ballymun area.
At least one bursary will be given to an artist who is working through Irish or bilingually
Bursaries cannot be used to fund training, accommodation, equipment purchase, or productions.
Applicants applying with a show for production in 2025 may not be eligible
Axis will not be able to provide feedback on unsuccessful applications
