Residency Description

I have been very fortunate to record and produce traditional music for over 25 years and worked with many great musicians. This long-time experience and my own work as bass player has given me a useful perspective on accompaniment in the genre.  Over the years I have become aware that there is a lack of diversity in approaches to accompaniment in traditional Irish music. This has been on my mind for a considerable period, but my life as a touring musician has not afforded me the time I would like to give to delve deeper into this topic.

I would like to explore different ways of presenting traditional music especially in terms of its accompaniment. To look at fresh ideas and approaches to traditional tune accompaniment, collaborating with Sean Óg Graham (guitar), Tola Custy (fiddle) and Alan Doherty (flute, whistle)
