axis is aiming to become a more accessible space.
With the help of Arts and Disability Ireland we are broadening our services to cater for visitors with access requirements including visually impaired and disabled visitors.
Axis has a street-level entrance with a motion detected sliding door. The café, theatre and creche can be accessed via the ground floor. There is an accessible toilet on the ground floor. There are two accessible parking spaces on the Main Ballymun Road and there is a Dublin Bus stop located at the plaza on which Axis is located as well as across the road from it.
The first floor studio spaces are accessible by either a lift or staircase. Most of our studios have sufficient space to adapt to a variety of access requirements including working a different heights or levels. Our Dance Studio and Underground Rehearsal Studios and Recoring Studio have double doors that can both be opened. Our artist studio has a single door. Our Dance Studio, Gallery and Art Studio have white walls but a band of coloured tape can be added at eye level for practicing artists with visual imparments who may require this.
Our staff have received Disability Equality Training, but we are always learning and trying to improve. Should you have specific questions or comments in relation to access, please feel free to contact our Operations Manager Anita on anita.purdy AT axisballymun.ie or on 01 883 2114.
We can cater for up to 8 wheelchairs in our auditorium. These spaces are located at the front of the auditorium and are in clear view of the stage. We advise wheelchair users to inform the box office when booking tickets for a theatre event in order to ensure all seating requirements are met. The most convenient parking for wheelchair users is located on the main street on the side nearest the plaza (two dedicated accessible spaces) or opposite axis on Shangan Road (outside the Travelodge Hotel).
Assistance Dogs are welcome at axis.
Large text versions of any of our print can be made available on request from our box office.
We aim to continue to improve axis accessibility and would welcome your suggestions and feedback. Please feel free to contact axis reception on (01) 883 2100 or by email.
