Director/CEO of Axis Ballymun Announced

The Board of Ballymun Arts & Community Resource Centre CLG t/a Axis is delighted to announce the appointment of Niamh Ní Chonchubhair as the Director/CEO of Axis Ballymun

Niamh will serve in this role from August 2022 having previously served as Programme Manager for fourteen years. Niamh has been Interim Director of Axis Ballymun since 2021. The position was previously held by Mark O’ Brien who was appointed Executive Director of The Abbey Theatre.

Commenting on the new appointment, Ray Yeates, Interim Chair of Axis’ Board of Directors, said:

Niamh has seventeen years professional experience in the arts sector, as a creative producer on work that has toured nationally and internationally, as a commissioner, programmer and project manager. She has over five years’ experience in leading community resource departments within Axis and over a decade’s worth of practice in creative community collaboration, in areas that intersect with mental health, positive ageing, arts and disability, early years and Recovery. Niamh is committed to enhancing art form development and policy. For Axis she has led on initiatives that focus particularly on belonging, access and representation, and is a key collaborator on projects and policy sessions addressing climate adaptation in the cultural sector and beyond. A passionate advocate for the sector, Niamh is outgoing Chair of the Board of Arts & Disability Ireland following her five-year term, and has served on many boards and committees over a number of years, including; Theatre Forum Ireland; Foras na Gaeilge’s Foram Forbartha Teanga and The Ireland United States Alumni Association.
