Technical Specification

Axis Ballymun houses a 211 seat theatre space. There is a flat ground level stage area and a raked seating bank. Typically the space is used end on but other arrangements may be possible by prior arrangement.  Half of the seating bank ie. the first 6 rows of seats can be retracted. The Stage floor is black painted plywood and the back wall is painted black.

There are 2 dressing room spaces backstage as well as a green room. Additional space for large groups is available but must be booked in advance through the Programme Manager.

Axis provide one technician for get ins, shows and get outs to assist your crew with set up for the show. It is the visiting company’s responsibility to have proper and adequate numbers of competent crew in order to facilitate the safe installation of your show. Do not include Axis technical staff in your crewing schedule. Get in’s normally run at 10 hours max including breaks unless previously agreed with the Programme Manager in advance. 

All visiting companies will be asked to supply a risk assessment for their show. Any standard format is acceptable and a template document is available below to download if companies are not familiar with the risk assessment document.

All flammable set materials (Fabric, cardboard will need to be flame proofed using Flamex or similar) Axis reserve the right to withdraw set elements that are not satisfactorily flame proofed.

Safeguarding

Any external company using Axis facilities for productions that include children as part of the cast must read and adhere to our Child Protection policy (available online and at reception/box office). Productions involving children will require a chaperone ratio of 1:8 for under 16’s as per Axis Child Protection Policy.

Visitng company crew members must be garda vetted if their work consists mainly of the person having access to or contact with children or vulnerable persons.  Visiting companies using Axis facilities for productions that include children as part of the cast must have a Designated Liaison Person. Visiting companies using Axis facilities for productions that include children as part of the cast cannot have crew members with unresolved child protection issues or any child protection issues of concern.
