axis Online

#axisonline is a new season developed by the axis team to try1 L 1 and bring as much of our supports, work and programme online during these strange times.

#axisonline is also a way of us staying in touch and collaborating with our community in Ballymun and the wider areas we serve and engage with.

Through #axisonline we are also opening up our archives across social media highlighting our own work and the work of artists we work with and admire

#axisonline is an opportunity to take stock of where we are at right now and innovate around mechanisms for the public to be creative.

#axisonline is a way of us collaborating with and highlighting the great work that is being done by artists and arts centres around the country

#axisonline is an opportunity to highlight the importance of the live and tangible arts in our lives and in society, and in their enforced absence look at reframing relationships and the way artists engage with the public

Come take your place. You can still Dream Out Loud.

Check out our programme in the tabs

We are trying to keep #axisonline free to avail of and use but if you feel you can donate to the axis arts development fund you can do so HERE via our donate page

Thanks

DCC Arts office embarked on a cool piece of research recently - Young Dublin: Conversations With A Dozen Young Dubliners. The research gives an insight into what art and culture means to them as young people. We've turned the research into an exhibition that's currently hanging up in axis' Gallery. If you're in the area over the coming week, try and pop in to have look and maybe have a cuppa in our cafe afterwards.

And down it comes... Dave (axis' Maintenance Manager) has just taken down the final piece from our 'Space To Be Yourself' exhibition, a collaboration between BRYR (Ballymun Regional Youth Resource) and axis. A visual arts and writing project facilitated by poet Colm Keegan and youth arts worker Aine Crowley. Over several weeks young people came together to create visual responses to the poems they had written with Colm Keegan. After exploring various ways to engage with the world through poetry and prose, the group then wrote pieces that reflected on their own lives and environment. They were encouraged to write from the heart and to use where they live for inspiration. Everyone gathered for a final closing party last Friday in axis gallery.

Keep your eye out for some local Ballymun women who make a small appearance in the upcoming feature length film A Date For Mad Mary. A few months ago, axis was approached by Calippo Films and some of our THREADS women (axis' dance programme for women) were then invited to take part in this film - shooting scenes around Dublin and doing voice overs in a recording studio). The women loved the experience and they recently attended a private pre-screening of the film (for crew/team) in the Lighthouse Cinema.
