The Arts Guarantee is a new inititiave launched by Trinity Comprehensive secondary school (Ballymun) earlier this year. More of a dynamic long-term 'commitment' rather than an actual project, the school 'guarantees' a number of creative, cultural and arts experiences for each and every one of their students from 1st year right through to 6th year. It's a fantastic and meaningful development from this dedicated, hard-working and progressive school.

DNA (Discover New Arts) is a new autumn project starting in four primary schools across Ballymun this October. Here in axis, we’re firm believers that creativity is in everyone’s DNA, so we’re giving hundreds of young children the chance to explore theirs. Ballymun's children better brace themselves for a fun, loud and messy two months of circus, drama, dance and everything in between.

RAIC is a new 2018 Irish language project developed for Gaelscoil Ballymunna, developed by axis and funded by Forais na Gaeilge. 'Raic' as gaelige means 'commotion' - as in 'what's the all the commotion, noise, racket?' The project is developed and delivered in 2 phases with every single child in the primary school participating - all 160 of them.

We love collaborating on projects and we particularly love developing new partnerships. So we're really happy to be teaming up with St Patrick's Festival this year to develop a new project for their 2019 festival. There are other key international players on board too - the Scottish Government and The British Council. At the heart of this cultural project is a new Poet in Residence programme between Scotland and Ireland connecting with young people from Ballymun's Trinity Comprehensive School. The project will run from December 2018 to March 2019 with a final showcase  presented during St Patrick's Festival 2019. This project will also link into the poetry trail 'Dublin: A Year in Words' in partnership with Dublin UNESCO City Of Literature

Great atmosphere in Ballymun at the weekend at the Ballymun Family Fun Day. Axis was there to 'creatively' help out, by throwing drama facilitator Anita Nicholson into the mix - who really went all out on the day, engaging children in lots of colorful and crazy drama activities. T'was a terrific atmosphere in Ballymun and axis were only too happy to be part of it.

We might be in the middle of a heatwave but that's no excuse to miss the Threads women in action next Friday 6th and Saturday 7th on axis stage. It's Dirty Dancing after all. You've seen them dance along to Chicago, Rocky Horror and Moulin Rouge... this year the women will be popping on their summer pumps and denim shorts and will cha cha cha-ing along with Mr. Swayze and company. You know the format - we screen the film while the women entertain us! The film kicks off at 7.30pm. Tickets only €5. Book online or pop into axis box office. Otherwise you can get tickets at the door. Here's one of our new shy and retiring cast members. She'll definitely be 'having the time of her life next week'.
